Mamelodi’s Phoenix Flamee the only African representative in Canada’s producer competition

Mamelodi music producer, Phoenix Flamee, will be the sole representative from Africa in the Battle Of The Beatmakers competition to be held in Canada, North America, this August.

Real name Rofhiwa Mononde, Phoenix is known as the Hip Hop producer who have worked with a lot of local artists around Pretoria including Gomza, Stanza, Gang Green Gang, Boy Peza, to name just a few.

Now the Mamelodi East based music genius will be taking his music skills to another level when he compete against some of the world’s best producers.

The competition include producers from France, Italy, USA and Sweden. And Phoenix will be up against Killer Kell of Canada in the top 64 competition.

The competition will start on the 29th of August 2019. Preliminary battles on August 29th and August 30th.  The exact order of each matchup will be determined on the day of the battle.

16 matchups (32 producers) will battle each day.  The winners of each matchup (best out of 3 beats) will move on to the Main Event on August 31st.

This is not the first time for Phoenix to get this kind of opportunity as in 2018 he qualified to travel to Canada but couldn’t because of family issues. But this year he says he aims to go there as he already arranged his visa.

“I have managed to get my visa and I am leaving on the 27th,” he told Mams Music Gallery. “I also need some financial help from anyone who can help me cover travel and accommodation costs.

“So far I have managed to collect around 14k and all in all I need around 21k to cover everything.”
