Dr Feel, real name Felix Lenkosi, is one of those unique producers who make special music for special people.
The Sunnyside based DJ is popularly known for his amapiano tunes that have been all over the streets in 2019 including the famous Ndod’emnyama remix, originally by DJ Black Coffee and Samthing Soweto.
The soul healer has already produced for some of the biggest names in the South African music industry like iFani, Rashid Kay and Emmy Gee.
The Jack Fridays resident DJ shared the stage with artists such as Black Coffee, AKA, KO, Oskido, Shimza, Professor and many more big names.
He says he is mentored by Allen Nyampa who is the owner of Jack Friday’s and also Thobela FM’s Mr Mojapelo.
He also adds that he looks up to the likes of Black Coffee, Oskido, DJ Fresh, Dr Dre, Pharrell and Jay Z.
The African Rain maker says the reason he calls himself Dr is because “my music is medicinal.”
“The Feel represents the soulful aspect of my music. I make music for the heart. You won’t just hear it but you will Feel the music.”
His latest project is an EP called Vision which has four songs and seven features on it.
It is an amapiano project that features the likes of Issa Matthews, Samat, Kiki, James Sakala, King Zone, Blenda and Zhane.
“Amapiano is undeniably the biggest genre at the moment and I thought it is only fair for me to be a part of the movement and history making,” he adds.
Dr Feel confesses that his long term goal is to open a record label that focuses mainly in giving the unsigned talented artists from poor background a chance to be heard.
“It is tough for artists who come from difficult situations to make it in this industry hence a record label that will bridge that gap,” he says.
The DJ is currently working on his Afro Tech EP titled Ikigai, which is set to drop on the first week of February.
“I am also dropping visuals and audio of my single with Zhane titled More Of You (soon). I am working on a dance movie named Go Gettaz with Last Hour Entertainment. My follow up book from A Potter’s Mind will also follow next year,” he concluded.
