Many artists dream of clinching a record deal and more so if it is an international deal. But Mamelodi based rapper Heart Beats of Hit Factory Records declined a US record deal to focus on growing his music career with his team.

Heart Beats, real name Karabo Nkuna, is a 20 year old independent artist, producer, beat maker and song writer and started doing music at an early age.
He says his music is inspired by the daily obstacles, challenges and struggles that he goes through.
“I have always had a passion for helping out people who are broken and depressed since I went through the same situation,” he told Mams Music Gallery. “I know it is a dark place to be in, so I try to shine some light on my fans.”
He says what sets him apart from other rappers is that he doesn’t lie on his songs and he is not afraid to put his personal problems out there.
He adds that although it is a passion for him to make music that touch people, he also need to make music pay his bills.
“I won’t lie and say I’m not doing this for fame or money. I am. I need money to survive, I need money to invest in my craft and I need fame so I can reach everyone in the world.
“I need to eat and feed as well. But also reach and help as many people as I can.”
Heart Beats released an EP titled Thought I Should Let You Know in 2018 raising suicidal awareness and also pointing out the cause of his depression and his ways of dealing with it. The EP is available in online stores world wide.
His team encouraged him to submit music to record labels and he did get the respond from a USA record label, Bentley Records, but the rapper did the unthinkable by declining the deal.
“I received an email from New York offering me a distribution deal telling me that they believe I could be the next big thing and I was hella hyped.
“But then I gave it a thought. My team needed me. I didn’t take it but now we sniffing a deal bigger than that as a team.”
In 2019 they released an album titled Does It Hurt? as Hit Factory Records (Heart Beats, Teeblow, Kellz & Thoti) and is available to download from this website.
“This year we are winning all the MMG Awards (Mamelodi Music Awards) and finally getting our music on major platforms.
“A whole lot of good music will be released and we’ll be performing a lot.
“Catch us at our first ever gig we hosting on the 27th ‘F#K IT UP SATURDAYS’ at Tsakane, Sibande Shisa Nyama, Mamelodi East.”
